MSNBC has agreed to host with AFT, on an exclusive basis, the presidential public education forum on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Pittsburgh. Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer have confirmed their participation. It will be streamed on MSNBC’s website, as well as on AFTvotes.org and the AFT’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
This forum is our final step in the first phase of the AFT’s 2020 endorsement process. As many of you know, we revamped our process from top to bottom, focusing first and foremost on engagement. We’ve engaged our members and candidates in an unprecedented way: In addition to this forum, we have held 10 candidate town halls with members across the country and several telephone town halls. Both will continue, with a focus on issues such as higher education and healthcare. We’ve solicited questions for candidates from members, and thousands of members have participated one way or another, including by filling out endorsement surveys and engaging on social media.
